Testimony: How God Changed My Life

This testimony is shared with permission. Names have been changed for privacy.

Three years ago, I walked through the doors of Alive Church feeling completely broken. My marriage had fallen apart, I'd lost my job, and I was struggling with depression. I didn't know if God was real, but I was desperate enough to find out.

The First Sunday

I almost didn't come in. I sat in my car for twenty minutes, watching people walk into the building, convinced I didn't belong. But something – or Someone – nudged me to go inside.

What I found surprised me. People were genuinely warm without being overwhelming. The worship was powerful but accessible. And when the pastor spoke, it felt like he was talking directly to me.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." – Matthew 11:28

Those words broke something in me. For the first time in months, I felt hope.

Finding Community

I joined a Connect Group, nervous about opening up to strangers. But those "strangers" became family. They prayed for me. They helped me practically – with meals, with moving house, with job applications. They pointed me to Jesus when I couldn't see Him myself.

Where I Am Today

Today, I'm a different person. Not because my circumstances are perfect – they're not. But because I've found a hope that doesn't depend on circumstances. I've found a community that feels like home. I've found Jesus.

I now serve on the Welcome Team, greeting people at the door. I think about that person sitting in their car, wondering if they belong. I want them to know: you do belong here.

Your Story Matters

If you're reading this and you're where I was three years ago – broken, hopeless, unsure if God is real – I want you to know: there is hope. You are welcome here. Your story isn't over.
